Our PE Vision

Christ Church School believes in creating a culture where Physical Education, Sport and Physical Activity are considered to be as significant as other aspects of the school curriculum.

With a whole school staff confidence in all aspects of the subject, and through integrating physical activity into all areas, we aim to widen opportunities for all.

At Christ Church Primary School, each year group do 2 hours of PE over the week. Each year group has a 1 hour PE lesson and class teachers build into their timetable 10/15 mins each day of extra physical activity to make up the two hours. Class teachers use Supermovers

(See link here to access at home: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/supermovers) and GoNoodle.

We work closely and have strong links with Bebington High, who offer advice with curriculum support and professional development for all staff and subject leaders. Bebington High offer additional training to all. A range of after school clubs are facilitated by high quality coaches from Bebington High and are very popular with both pupils and parents. Children from F2 up to Y6 are given the opportunity to participate in PE festivals such as Wirral School Games; giving all children the chance to experience traditional and alternative activities.

At Christ Church Primary School we believe that sport and physical activity is for everyone regardless of sex, ability, race or disability and we provide sporting opportunities for all of our children.

PE Long Term Plan 2018/19

At Christ Church Primary School, there is a wealth of sporting opportunities available.

Each year, we participate in the following activities: gymnastics, dance, drama, zumba, yoga, football, girls’ football, hockey, netball, rounders, athletics, swimming, tag rugby and tennis.

Various after-school clubs help train the children to participate in the competitions and be selected for the teams. Throughout the school, children also take part in half termly competitions with their year groups.

We also work closely and have strong links with Edsential, who offer advice with curriculum support and professional development for all staff and subject leaders. Edsential carry out PE audits throughout the year and offer additional training to all. A range of after school clubs, including Karate and Zumba are facilitated by high quality Edsential coaches and are very popular with both pupils and parents. F2 and KS1 are given the opportunity to participate in PE festivals; giving younger children the chance to experience traditional and alternative activities. By working with Edsential, we are fortunate enough for Great British athletes to deliver workshops and assemblies to inspire and engage the children, promoting their aspirations for life.
