Christ Church CE Primary School

'With God,
all things are possible' (Matthew 19:26)

Welcome to  the Nursery Class Page!

This page is intended to give parents and carers up-to-date information about what is  happening in Nursery.

We understand that starting nursery school can be a daunting experience for both parents and children. Here at Christ Church, it is our aim to support our children and families wherever possible, to ensure we have happy, settled children, who have a love of life long learning. We welcome our parents into school and will always find the time to provide any support or answer any queries, so please do not hesitate to ask.

30-Hours Funding

As a parent/carer of a child aged three and four years old, you can take up to 15 hours of free early years provision per week. This is known as your child’s Free Early Education Entitlement (FEEE). All children are entitled to these 15 hours per week. This starts on the first school term following their third birthday and ends when the child reaches compulsory school age.

As from September 2017, the government have offered funding for an additional 15 hours per week (i.e. a full-time place) to support working parents with the cost of childcare and enable them to return to work. Your eligibility depends on:

  • if you are working
  • your income (and your partner’s income, if you have one)
  • your child’s age and circumstances
  • your immigration status

At Christ Church, we  are pleased to confirm our offer of 30 hours Early Education Funding (EEF) for parents/ carers of three and four-year-olds. To  check your eligibility and apply for the 30 hours funding, please visit the Government website by clicking here.

If you are eligible for 30 hours funding your child will attend Nursery all day from 9:00am - 3:30pm and parents/ carers who are not eligible for the addition free 15 hours may still access a full-time place by paying a top-up fee of £10 a session (AM: 9:00am-12:00pm or PM: 12:30pm-3:30pm).

Nursery Hours

Morning session: 9:00am-12:00pm

Lunch session: 12:00pm-12:30pm

Afternoon session: 12:30pm-3:30pm

Children entitled to 15 hours per week will access the setting across two and a half days, which can be agreed with the EYFS team.

The children can either bring in a packed lunch or order a hot school dinner. For those who would like a hot school dinner, there is a fee of £2.89, paid to the school lunch provider Edsential  and ordered through School Gateway.

The children will eat their lunch in the EYFS unit and will be fully supervised by qualified staff.

 Reading

As a school,  we provide our Nursery children with a reading for pleasure book to take home each week. The children select a storybook to take home on Monday and return their book bags on Friday.  As Nursery children thrive from repetition, we recommend that parents/ carers read to their children as often as possible, talking about the characters, images and events in the story, which will help them develop a life-long love of reading.

Helping at Home

In Nursery we recognise that parents/ carers are a child's first educator and therefore we greatly value the learning that takes place at home. We know that a love of learning comes from the everyday opportunities to talk, question, explore, experience, experiment and investigate and encourage our families to provide as many of these opportunities as possible.

Each child has their own Tapestry profile, where school staff will share some of their learning experiences in school. We encourage our parents to add to their child's profile by sharing images and videos of their child's learning at home.

We value partnership with parents and use the Tapestry app to communicate with our parents and to upload photographs of their child  learning through play.
